A new children's musical called HOMO will premiere this December in Tel Aviv, with its sights set on a New York transfer in 2017.

The musical has book, score and lyrics by Roi Dolev, is produced by The Tramp Theatre, and is based on The Brothers Grimm's classic tale RUMPELSTILTSKIN.

According to a production official, "The show follows the stories of five outsiders - Autistic, Fat, Dyslexic, Black and Handicapped, and the story of Homo, who has to learn he is not the only minority in society, and that discrimination may begin with us at times."

Roi Dolev, HOMO's creator, busy these days with directing Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS in its Hebrew premiere, said: "It's an honor and a privilege writing for children. They're the audience that truly matters, and I'm very looking forward to sharing HOMO's story with them in December."

"A couple of New York producers have shown interest in the show, but I'm not in a rush to accept their offers," Dolev added. "I want to make sure that if we do it, it's done right. With that being said, I believe HOMO's message is universal and I will love to have children watch it all around the world. First let's make it to December in Tel Aviv."

The production released a first song from the musical today. Check it out below!
