The 8th Jerusalem Merkaz Habama Festival, artistically directed by playwright and directress Ori Egoz, will be held at Gerard Behar Center between June 5 and June 13, 2017.
Merkaz Habama is a theatre festival in Jerusalem that was first presented in 2009 with the support of the Jerusalem Foundation and its goal is to promote breakthrough independent artists and provide a stage to an experimental and challenging theatre.
The festival puts the story in the center stage (in Hebrew- Merkaz Habama). In each monodrama the viewer is presented with a different story, a different character's point of view, fascinating conflicts about the world of someone who up until now was a stranger to us and we were now given a rare opportunity to glance inside it.
This year 7 monodramas by Israeli artists and that were picked out of 100 plays that were submitted to the festival, will have a world premiere in the festival.
So far 80 productions were presented in past seasons of the festival, including the highly acclaimed Poriya, Finally the End, Under Your Wing, and The Firebird.
This year, the presented monodramas are:
Monday, June 5- How to be happy in 10 steps
Tuesday, June 6- Yalu
Wednesday, June 7- Golda the Tenant
Thursday, June 8- Obligation to Report
Sunday, June 11- The Role of His Life
Monday, June 12- A Dog Named Hunger
