Frida on Habima Theater is a dance and theater work that show the lifetime of Frida Kahlo. Overall it is not bad. I personally don't really like dance show but I could sit for the whole time and actually enjoy. I had big expectation from this show as every show of Habima - the national theater. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed.
Ana Aharonov is barely dancing. It looks like during the whole show the other dancers just take her and put her in different places on stage. There were several time that I felt like Frida could be played by a mannequin. That was very disappointed because when I know I'm going to watch one of the best dancers in Israel I expect her to dance. When she did really danced it was for only a few minutes straight.
Beside that everything was good. The costume were well made, the music and sound are amazing. The chirography is amazing, there was a good use of stage and the dancers deliver feelings well to the audience. I think that the best part was the beginning, afterwards if got a little bit boring.
The duration of the show is perfect - it is not too long or too short. During the show I could learn about Frida's life but I didn't really have anything more, just a biography. The set felt a little bit chip sometimes but the use of the curvature wall was done well.
The best thing about this show is definitely the lightning. It was well done and very powerful. Good use of variety of lights and even build sets, shapes and positions with them. Overall I think that the average theater lover will like this show especially for the duration. Dance lovers will be disappointed, and if you don't like performing arts at all, this is not a "must go".
