The Half Moon Theatre is proud to welcome Graffiti Theatre Company with their specially commissioned production of Where in the World is Frank Sparrow?, the brilliant and provocative play by one of Australia’s most exciting playwrights Angela Betzien.
The quirky graphic novel style of this allegorical piece weaves the stark urban reality with the mythical underworld of the dead. Against this grim backdrop, Frank Sparrow, an abandoned and unclaimed newborn child is found in a farmer’s field on the outskirts of Shadow City. He grows up to become an unlikely hero who doesn’t fit in the world and he must face dangers and trials, overcome weaknesses, find romance and face death in an action packed performance.
Consisting of an outstanding cast including Shane Casey, Cora Fenton, Tadhg Hickey, Dominic MacHale and Aideen Wylde, directed by Emelie Fitzgibbon with an original sound-score and evocative set and lighting, Where in the World is Frank Sparrow is a theatre experience not to be missed.
Witty and humorous without being hilarious, the darkly poetic and beautiful Where in the World is Frank Sparrow? is also laden with ominous themes such as myth and legend, the hero’s coming of age, social identity, difference and acceptance. A uniquely modern legend, Where in the World is Frank Sparrow reinvents the hero’s journey for the 21st Century and propels its audience through the dangerous streets and gangland night-life of Shadow City and into the dark underworld of change and transformation.
