The Walworth Farce at Cork Opera House

Presented by the Kilmeen Drama Group, ‘The Walworth Farce’ by Enda Walsh is the story about Dinny and his two sons, Sean and Blake. Every day Dinny directs his sons in his own little house-play that tells the story of how this unconventional family left their beloved Cork, almost twenty years ago, and found themselves living in a council flat on the Walworth Road in London.

On this day, an unexpected and unwelcome guest arrives on their doorstep. Her presence upsets the delicate fiction Dinny has been weaving all these years and threatens to break the vicious psychological control he has over his sons.

Kilmeen Drama Group, based in Rossmore, West Cork, are one of the longest established drama groups in the country, regularly competing on the 3 Act and 1 Act circuits. Last year, Kilmeen was crowned All Ireland champions at the RTE 3 Act Open Drama Finals in Athlone, for the third consecutive year, with ‘Playboy of the Western World’.
