Founded in 1870, The Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet is widely recognised as one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world. It is unique in that it draws all of its dancers from its own school which is famous throughout the ballet world: former graduates include Galina Ragozina-Panova, Galina Shlyapina, and Nadezhda Pavlova who went on to become Prima Ballerina of The Bolshoi Ballet.
The company tours extensively with recent tours including China, USA, France, Germany and The Netherlands. They performed in Dublin in 2004, and 2006 with their production of The Nutcracker, again with The RTE National Symphony Orchestra.
The following are some of the Irish press comments from their Nutcracker:
When you see a production of The Nutcracker like this you remember why this ballet deservedly retains its popularity- and the results ardently speak for themselves.
this production creates a sense of almost unbearable excitement and mystery
This production pulled together the best of everything superb dancers, expressive choreography, atmospheric staging, and enchanting and innovative costumes and set designs to present perhaps the loveliest Nutcracker Ive ever seen!
