It’s major ska and reggae vibes in the Black Box as Out to Lunch draws to a close. Mungo’s Hi-Fi are the UK’s pre-eminent sound system, a three-man tag-team whose bass-heavy selections have been rattling punters’ bones for more than a decade now.
After a modest start (performing after finding some speakers in a skip), they’ve since been bathed in international acclaim, winning over the ears of taste-makers like John Peel, Jah Shaka and Mr Scruff. Theirs is a heady broth of dub, dancehall, digital roots and dubstep, complemented by a couple of top grade MCs.
Pocket Billiards are a great 9-piece band from Belfast who fuse ska, reggae and dub with punk rock and heavy riffs, creating an energetic and powerful sound.
Get down early and prepare to dance (mostly standing).
