One of the most famous and seductive operas of all time, Bizet’s Carmen guarantees an evening of passion and romance. This dramatic and sensuous opera tells the tale of the downfall of soldier Don Jose, who is seduced by the fiery, beautiful and passionate gypsy girl Carmen. Abandoning both his childhood sweetheart and his military career, Jose pursues Carmen but loses her to the glamorous bullfighter Escamillo. In true tragic operatic fashion, Jose can’t bear to be without Carmen and her tantalising beauty ultimately leads to her own dramatic demise.
This dazzling production boasts brand new sets reflecting Seville’s main square with Roman and Moorish influences, and features Bizet’s unforgettable melodies, ‘The Habañera’, ‘The Flower Song’, ‘The Seguidilla’, ‘Chanson Boheme’ and perhaps the best known baritone aria of all; ‘The Toreador’s Song’.
