After a sell-out show in 2015, Cork Opera House is delighted to welcome back Al Porter.
Only 22, Al fits in being a Drivetime co-presenter on national radio (2fm) while performing at major festivals and venues across the country, making television appearances (Republic of Telly, The Saturday Night Show) and writing and starring in a pantomime each Christmas in The Olympia Theatre all the while!
Al is a man with an enthusiastic love of life, the lights and the audience. In his short time in show-business, Al has performed on line-ups that featured Eddie Izzard, Tommy Tiernan, and Panti Bliss – while stars like chat-show legend Gay Byrne and Louis Walsh have come to see his live show! Also, at 21, Al Porter was the youngest Irish comic in history to headline Vicar Street.
Not bad for a college dropout from a council estate.
A Parish Secretary’s son, Al was supposed to be a Priest – until he slept with one and changed his mind. A socialite on a social welfare budget, Al has been on countless dates, gotten into debt and sued by a Presidential candidate!
