Over the last 3 years James Merrigan's work has dealt with the obsessions and addictions inherent in the so-called ‘dark' aspects of culture. A recent film work titled GOTH-HEAD, could be viewed as a sort of identity label for my art practice which has utilised the ‘cliché' to re-form cultural beliefs, identities and interpretations of place, with humour and potential fear from a filmic perspective. His exhibition entitled 'The Truth Spoken as Word' opend recently at The Gallery, Roscommon Arst Centre and continues until 15th April. Viewing during centre opening hours. All are welcome.
James Merrigan is a mixed-media and video installation artist based in Dublin. He was awarded the Irish Residential Studio Award at Red Stables for 2011.
