The Lonesome West is the brilliant blackest of black comedies by Martin McDonagh, the third play in his seminal works The Leenane Trilogy. The Everyman continues its tradition of producing top-quality theatre with McDonagh's hit comedy, directed by Julie Kelleher, opens on Tuesday, 31st July and continues until Saturday, 25th August.
The Lonesome West is a comic masterpiece. McDonagh's much loved characters, Colman and Valene, two brothers living alone in their father's house after his recent death, find it impossible to exist without regular violent disputes over mundane matters. Only the local priest, Father Welsh, is prepared to reconcile the two before their squabbling leads to violent and bloody carnage.
Following the success of Lovers, The Factory Girls, and Dancing at Lughnasa, this staging brings together an exciting creative team, Deirdre Dwyer (Set and Costume Designer) Brian Mitchell (Lighting Designer) and Chris Schmidt Martin (Sound Designer) and the acting talents of Gus McDonagh, John McCarthy, Andrew Holden and Amy McElhatton.
