Theatre & Literature

The Cavalcaders | 23rd - 26th October
You may already know that the arts centre is a member of Nomad Theatre Network. This year Nomad are teaming up with Decadent to produce Billy Roche's The Cavalcaders. The tour opens in Roscommon and we'd be lying if we said that we aren't excited. With the fantastic Andrew Flynn as Director and a stellar cast we can't recommend this one highly enough.

An Evening with Michael Harding | 11th September
Irish Times columnist, writer and playwright, Michael reads from his best-selling memoir 'Staring at Lakes'.

Alone It Stands| 13th & 14th November
Going on feedback from our box office this show is already lining up to be packed to the rafters. Alone it Stands relives the night in 1978 when Munster beat the All Blacks on home soil. 6 actors recreates 62 roles in a whirlwind of a tale that inspires and perspires in the same evening!

Eden | 1st October
Moving, funny and tragic, Eden is a powerful story of an ordinary
relationship on an extraordinary weekend.

Dance & Music

Dance Residency with Myriad Dance | 15th - 17th October
Myriad Dance are working with both primary and secondary students though performance and workshops as part of our October Lollipops events. Click here and scroll down for more details.

Teenage Kicks | Dance for Teens
As well as the wonderful afterschool workshop with Myriad Dance on17th October we are also searching for secondary schools in the county to host Teenage Kicks FREE dance workshops. Call the box office to register your school's interest!

Julie Madly Deeply | 31st October
Celebrate all that is wonderful about the delightful Dame Julie Andrews inJulie Madly Deeply, a tribute to her life and music.

Music in King House, Boyle |

There are still lots of events taking place in King House including performances by the Carducci Quartet and Jack L. Go check out this historic building in Boyle and who knows, you might run into our county's treasure, the charismatic Chris O'Dowd!

It's fairly clear that we LOVE Jack L here in Roscommon. Listen to him up close and personal for a great Christmas night out this December.

Visual Art

The Joinery | 12th Sept - 2nd Nov
In collaboration with the Roscomon Arts Centre and curator Mary Cremin, the Joinery off-site presents a series of projects which includes an exhibition and events by Ruth Clinton and Niamh Moriarty, a sound workshop by Ed Devane and an evening of improvised music by some of the Joinery regulars.

Part One: Ruth Clinton and Niamh Moriarty

For their exhibition at the Roscommon Arts Centre the two artists will make site specific video, installation and performance works in response to the surrounding area. A corresponding event will take place on the evening of Culture Night, (Friday the 20th of September).

Part Two: Sound exploration workshop with Ed Devane

Musician and instrument builder Ed Devane will lead a one-day music workshop encompassing hands-on instrument building and group sound-making techniques. Saturday 28th September.

Part Three: The Joinery off-site presents: An evening of improvised music: King House, Boyle

Performers will include Ed Devane, Fergus Cullen, David Donohue, Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh, Dave Lacey, John Picardo and more to be announced. Saturday 28th September.

BLOCK T | 14th Nov - 4th Jan
BLOCK T will collaborate with curator Mary Cremin on a group exhibition selected from studio artists both past and present in their multi-disciplinary studio programme. More details to follow throughout the season.
