Lots of Laughs with Roscommon Drama Group's "Odd Couple"
Local favourites, Roscommon Drama Group, are in final rehearsals at the moment for their forthcoming production of the hilarious comedy The Odd Couple. The group will present the female version the Neil Simon's classic comedy at Roscommon Arts Centre on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd of December at 8pm nightly. Rehearsals are going really well and the cast and crew are really looking forward to bringing Neil Simon's adaptation of his own play to Roscommon. Many people may be familiar with the original classic and this is a re-make with The Odd Couple being mismatched room-mates Olive and Florence. The play explores what happen when good friends move in together, and how small quirks or differences, which are usually endearing, can suddenly create an explosive situation which fortunately in this instance results in great comedy and lots of laughs. With a fantastic local cast including Colette Conlon and Immacula Deane taking on the roles of Olive and Florence, complimented by their wider circle of friends; considerate but naive Vera (Mary Cox), unluck-in-love Renee (Jan Beckingham), Mickey the cop (Bernie Maher) and wise-talking Sylvie (Elaine Morris). The Odd Couple also features wonderful Costazuela Brothers, Manolo and Jesus, played by Paul Kane and Con Connolly who turn in a brilliant comedic performance. Jim Conlon & Kieran Madden and their team have created a wonderful set and the backstage crew are in the process of sorting all our props and costumes in preparation for opening night. Conscious of the times that are in it the group have reduced our ticket prices to €12 and €10 in the hope that it makes it more affordable for people to come out and enjoy a really great evening's entertainment. Tickets for Roscommon Drama Group's production of The Odd Couple (Female Version) are now available from Roscommon Arts Centre box office 090 6625824 / www.roscommonartscentre.ie.
