From the company that brought you previous Fringe hits such as HARDER FASTER MORE and Stewart Parker Award nominee WRAPPED. Coast is a hardhitting new drama which tells the story of four strangers at crisis point.

Carol wants rid of her Mam, Ann Marie wants rid of herself, Karl wants to shoot his load and Gerry wants to shoot somebody...anybody. One stormy night they're all drawn to the sea in a rundown coastal town. They must be careful not to get out of their depth as they all desperately search for release.

Coast shines a light on some the most vulnerable members of Irish society today. A woman caring for her mother in the depths of Alzheimer's, an alcoholic outsider, a young gay man addicted to porn and a new mother battling mental health issues, all isolated and all near breaking point.

Written by Tracy Martin, a powerful new voice in Irish theatre; previously a standup comic and one of Ireland's first drag kings, she's turned her pen to more serious matters.

Nominated for the Stewart Parker New Playwrights Award 2015 & the Fishamble New Writing Award 2015, her other play s have explored Nazi politics (T he Wave), recreational drugs ( Wrapped) and sexual exploitation ( Harder Faster More).

Her new play Coast however, comes straight from her own experiences in the heart of her family home: Tracy's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's & Dementia three years ago. "It has completely consumed my family as we've adapted to our new roles as carers. It's quite a surreal experience. It would be strange not to make work about it".

"There are so many times in our daily lives, in our homes, workplaces and schools where we meet people whose mental health is at breaking point. It's at these moments of crisis wh ere we witness the most heartbreaking drama", explains Tracy.

The play, developed in Fishamble's New Play Clinic will be a feast for the eyes and hearts with movement directed by the awardwinning Bryan Burroughs

(Beowulf) alongside an extraordinary design team .

The ensemble cast, who between them boast a wealth of theatre and screen experience, combined with Martin's hardhitting and punchy words guarantee to bring audiences on a rollercoaster each evening.
