King House is delighted to welcome pianist Maria McGarry to the house as part of their 2012 season of events. A pianist of exceptional talent, Maria has received consistent praise from critics for her intuitive musicianship, depth of interpretation and uniquely personal style.

Hailing from Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, Maria is one of a select number of musicians to have been awarded the coveted "Artist Diploma in Performance" from the Juilliard School. She enjoys performing a vast and varied range of repertoire, from Bach to contemporary music and her King House performance will include works by both Beethhoven and Bach.

Her impressive biography boasts several premieres of works by Irish composers including Siobhan Cleary, Ian Wilson and Rhona Clarke; lists performances as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Spain's New Millennium Orquesta, the RTE Concert Orchestra, the Dublin Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Irish Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra to mention but a few.

Maria also enjoys chamber music and has collaborated with many noted musicians both at home and abroad including the RTE Vanbrugh String Quartet, the Callino Quartet and the Paul Klee Quartet amongst others. She has recorded for Polish National Radio, Lyric FM and has appeared on The Late-Late Show.

A multi-award winning performer, Maria's numerous prizes and accolades include the John Field and Brennan Prizes at the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition, the Lisney Young Pianist Award, the Sunday Independent/Ford Ireland Young Artists Bursary, the Ulster Bank Music Foundation Award, and the Fulbright Talent Award.

Her recital on September 7th in King House will no doubt testify to her great acclaim - a must for music enthusiasts.

Tickets are priced at €15 and are on sale at the box office in Roscommon Arts Centre on 0906 625 824 or on www.roscommonartscentre.ie. The performance commences at 8pm and subject to availability, tickets will also be on sale on the evening of the performance in King House from 7.30pm.
