Sebastian Barry's Boss Grady's Boys has been one of the most acclaimed new Irish plays of recent years. Centred around two brothers in their later years, Mick and Josey, living alone on their forty acre hill farm on the Cork-Kerry border, it explores through their own private language and dreams the pattern of their lives. The play examines how they cope with the confines of their lives and resist any easy despair, to bear each other in the face of their own aging.

Boss Grady's Boys was first performed in the Peacock Theatre in Dublin in 1988, to which it returned, as well as touring Ireland, in 1989.

The production opening at the Gaiety in September will be directed by Jim Culleton, produced by Noel Pearson and the two brothers, Mick and Josey will be played by Pat Shortt and Tom Hickey respectively. Other members of the cast will include Gina Moxley, Maria McDermottroe, Donagh Deeney and Don Wycherley . The production will be designed and lit by Paul Keogan.

"Barry's writing has a subtlety which puts Boss Grady's Boys into a different league from the vast majority of plays that have been written about rural Ireland since Synge" - The Sunday Press

Boss Grady's Boys runs from 31st August to the 11th September.
