New Play At The Everyman Re-imagines The Children Of Lir As A Modern Day Adventure ImageA brand new adventure for all the family, Erin Connolly and the Children of Lir, comes to the stage of the Everyman in Wednesday 4th - Sunday 8th July.

In an Ireland where the Children of Lir are still trapped as swans the mysterious and evil League of Minerva want to keep it that way. A young woman searches for the prophesised reincarnation of Fionn MacChumhaill to save the day.

"I wanted to reclaim our great Celtic stories," says writer and director Eoin Ó hAnnracháin, "Those stories that show the Irish as a warrior race who control our own destiny. The heroines in the Celtic Myths also fit very much with my vision for what the character of Erin Connolly should be."

"Our story is a kind-of Harry Potter, Star Wars, Percy Jackson style of adventure that imagines the children's curse has never been broken and that it is only the return of Ireland's greatest warrior, Fionn MacChumhaill, that can save the day. Erin must find this returning Fionn if she has any hope of defeating the evil League of Minerva."

"An event for all the family, our performances will be a blend of theatre, dance and music unlike anything else you will see on an Irish stage this summer. We will have adventure, excitement, entertainment and a bit of mystery. I am very excited about our plans for this project and can't wait to show it to you all."

The play is written and directed by Eoin Ó hAnnracháin for his company Lantern Productions, the makers of last year's hit play Thomas Kent - 1916 Rebel.

Erin Connolly and the Children of Lir opens on Wednesday 4th of July and continues until Sunday 8th. Tickets are on sale from the Everyman box office, with family tickets of €70 or single tickets of €20/€18. Phone 0214501673 or visit www.everymancork.com to book.
