After a sensational 12-week tour, the stars of FAME THE MUSICAL are bringing their hit show to Wexford Opera House for a rousing finale, from Tuesday, November 9 to Sunday, November 14. As well as giving Irish audiences the chance to see the iconic musical once last time, it also marks the end of an amazing journey for Ben Morris and Jessica Cervi.
The pair were awarded the lead roles of Nick and Serena during the summer after they won the hearts of the nation during a gruelling TV talent search. Over the course of 10 weeks, Ben and Jessica wowed audiences with their performances at the Helix in Dublin - helping them to beat off rivals and secure the public vote. Afterwards, Jessica said she was ‘thrilled, delighted and shocked' while Ben described it as ‘an emotional rollercoaster ride'.
Since then, their FAME journey has taken them to some of the country's leading venues. So it is fitting that the curtain should come down on the production at the world-class Wexford Opera House. Producer Robert C Kelly, one of the judges on the FAME THE MUSICAL TV show, said: ‘‘It has been quite a journey for us all, from the first day of auditions almost a year ago, to the excitement of the live TV shows, the long and arduous rehearsal process, the anticipation of opening night in Grand Canal Theatre and the amazing reaction to the stage show from audiences all around the country. We are delighted to have this opportunity to finish the tour here in beautiful Wexford and the cast are very excited to perform in the amazing Wexford Opera House where so many internationally acclaimed performers have already graced the stage".
Inspired by the Eighties film and TV series, FAME THE MUSICAL follows the lives, loves and struggles of the students at New York's legendary High School of Performing Arts. As well as Ben and Jessica, the show features soul legend Sheila Ferguson of The Three Degrees and electric dance performances led by Taofique Folarin and Brittany Woodrow.
In this multimillion euro production, Waterford director Bryan Flynn (West Side Story/Beauty and The Beast) teams up with choreographer Gary Lloyd (The X Factor Live/American Idol Live) and musical director David Hayes (Riverdance/Full Monty) for a show that will excite all ages. So whether you're a fan of the original Eighties film or were won over by last year's movie remake, you're guaranteed an incredible evening's entertainment at FAME THE MUSICAL.
