Decadent Theatre Company, in association with the Arts Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, bring their successful second national tour of Martin McDonagh's award winning, The Pillowman, to the Everyman stage, from Monday 7th - Friday 11th November.
The Pillowman opens in a prison cell where a young writer, Katurian, is being questioned about the children's tales he has written - grim tales, which have inspired copycat killings in the streets outside. Mixing comedy and dread, two interrogators tease out the resemblance between real and fictional worlds while probing the personal responsibility of the writer and his brother. Winner of two Tony Awards and Olivier Award for Best New Play, The Pillowman takes you on a ride through a comedic yet alarming interrogation and through the fantastical tales told by the young writer. The laughter provoked by McDonagh's gift for black comedy never overrides the emotions of fear and pity. The storytelling skill in The Pillowman will keep you on the edge of your seat to the very last line.
The production features the wonderful dramatic talents of Peter Gowen as Tupolski, Diarmuid Noyes as Katurian, Owen Sharpe as Michal, and Gary Lydon who will reprise his critically acclaimed role as Ariel. The show is directed by Andrew Flynn, with an award winning creative team consisting Owen MacCarthaigh (set design), Carl Kennedy (sound design), Ciaran Bagnall (lighting design) and Petra Breathnach (costume design).
Don't miss The Pillowman at the Everyman, from Monday 7th - Friday 11th November, at 8pm. Tickets, priced at €26, €23 concession or €9 for students, available from www.everymancork.com or from the Box office, telephone 021 4501 673.
