The world premiere of a new work commissioned by the company who brought you ‘Love is the Drug', ‘Wunderkind' and last years smash hit ‘All over town'.

Mary McArdle is the best fighter in Drogheda, a title that earned her the moniker 'Mad Mary' when she was 15. But now she's 23 and returning to her home town after serving a six month stretch in Mount-joy prison.

Back home, things have changed and the only thing Mary has to look forward to is being bridesmaid at her best friend's wedding, but even this comes at a price - she has to find a date to bring to the wedding ... and preferably one who'll wear a suit that matches her dress.

Calipo Theatre Company invite you to join Mad Mary as she searches for a 'nice boy' among the geeks, freaks and misfits of small town Ireland, learning the hard way that sometimes being a lover is tougher than being a fighter.

10 dates with Mad Mary is the latest play commissioned by Calipo under its page2stage initiative, a writer's development program run by Calipo under the leadership of Artistic Director, Darren Thornton which affords first time writers the opportunity to develop their work in a creative workshop environment with directors, actors and constant dramaturgical support. In many cases the process culminates in the production of the writers first professional play; previous productions include - Moonlight Mickeys by Colin Thornton & All over town by Phillip McMahon.

Yasmine Akram (Writer/Performer)
Yasmine studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). As an actor Yasmine appeared in many early Calipo productions including - Xavier's, Love is the drug, Makin Hits & Getting 2 level 10. She has written for DryWrite, London Bytes and the New Comedy Showcase. 10 Dates with Mad Mary is Yasmines first full length play.

Darren Thornton (Director)
Darren Thornton founded Calipo Theatre and Picture Company in 1994 and
has been Artistic Director since then. He co-wrote and directed the award winning TV series Love is the drug for RTE 2 in 2004. His short film ‘Frankie' has won many prestigious awards at international film festivals, including the Prix UIP Award at the Berlin Film Festival and the European Academy Award for Best Short Film in 2008. He also initiated the SHARP FOCUS PROJECT with Calipo; a cross-border film project where established filmmakers work with young people on the production of original short films. For Calipo Theatre Company, Darren has written and directed many of the company's theatre productions including - Xavier's, Makin Hits, Love is the Drug and Wunderkind.
