Breda Cashe Named New Commercial Director of Wexford Festival Trust

As part of a new departure, Wexford Festival Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Breda Cashe as Commercial Director for the organisation, which oversees the activities for both Wexford Opera Festival and Wexford Opera House. She will take up this new position from today.

Breda Cashe is a leading figure in the Irish Theatre Industry, having formed Lane Productions with Pat Moylan in the late nineties. The company went on to become one of the leading commercial productions companies in the country best known for such productions as The Field ,The World Premiere of The Shawshank Redemption I, Keano, Alone it Stands, Stones in his Pockets and most recently Tuesdays with Morrie . Breda has also produced internationally with a number of productions being presented in the West End, Edinburgh and Australia.

Taking up this new position, Breda said, "I am very honoured and delighted to take up this position with Wexford Festival Trust. I am a long admirer and supporter of the Festival and all things Wexford. My family origins are Wexford and I view this new career venture as coming home. I look forward to working in one of the most beautiful theatres in the country, for one of the most successful festivals in the world of Opera and in these challenging times to explore every commercial and artistic opportunity for the festival and venue."

Chairman of Wexford Festival Trust, Ger Lawlor commented, "All of us in the Wexford Family are delighted that Breda is joining us in this newly created position. Her immense knowledge and experience in the sector will be invaluable, as we continue with the further growth of both the Opera Festival and also the range and breadth of events in our wonderful Opera House throughout the year. Wexford Town is home to an internationally acclaimed venue, and we see this appointment as another building block in our mission to continue to bring new opportunities to the house, and to the town."

Chief Executive David McLoughlin added, "I greatly look forward to Breda joining the Wexford Opera team and to her making an invaluable contribution, based on her extensive industry experience and knowledge, to the ongoing commercial development of Wexford Festival Opera and Opera House."

The 62nd Wexford Festival Opera is grant-aided by the Arts Council, Fáilte Ireland, and Wexford County and Borough Councils.
