As part of our mission, the Break-Away Project work toward creating links between Irish and American artists, regularly showcasing work by American artists here in Ireland and developing showcase opportunities for Irish artists in America. In 2009 our artistic director, Helena, became familiar with the work of playwright Joseph Zettelmaier while working as a theatre apprentice at the Performance Network Theatre, Michigan. Three years later the Break-Away Project hosted their first performance, a staged reading of 'It Came From Mars'.

The actors fly into hysterics, believing they're about to be obliterated by aliens. Honesty and hilarity ensue when the dramatic dramatists are faced with true drama.Cast include: Karen Davidson Perrins, Michael Heavey, Helena Byrne, Stephen Gorman, Ciarán McGlynn, Sue Barrett. Directed by Anthony Kinahan.
The Break-Away Project has launched an online campaign to fund its production of It Came From Mars. Funders can donate from anywhere in the world and receive fantastic rewards from the Break-Away Project as a thank you for their support. The campaign will run until Sunday March 24th.
