Northern Ireland's Bardic Theatre production of Rat In The Skull has been invited to participate in this year's Liverpool Irish Festival which runs from 18th - 28th October across Merseyside. The festival, founded in 2003, celebrates the connections between Liverpool and Ireland through arts and culture. Bardic will stage their production, which has never been seen before at the festival, in the elegant surroundings of St. George's Hall on Wednesday 24th October. Tickets available from www.liverpoolirishfestival.com

Set in the midst of 'The Troubles', 'Rat in the Skull' by Lisburn born Ron Hutchinson, centres on an interview between an RUC inspector and a young Catholic man in London detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. Told from the point of view of an Ulster Protestant, it casts a new perspective on the struggle. Their sectarian differences fall away when confronted with 'casual loathing' of their English counterparts. Rat In The Skull features long established Bardic Theatre actors in Conor Begley, Declan McGrath, Blaine Nugent and Declan Billington. It is directed by Sean Faloon and the production contains strong language.

Luckily for those not able to make it across the Irish Sea, there will be one final performance at home on Sunday 21st October at Bardic Theatre in Donaghmore, Co. Tyrone. Tickets for this performance are available from www.BardicTheatre.com and via the Bardic Box Office at Stewart's Music Shop - Tel: 028 87 761 859.
