Ahakista Regatta & Festival Brings Hawaiian-Themed Fun to August Bank Holiday Today

Although the temperatures may have dipped ever so slightly there is no sign of this in Ahakista where things are heating up nicely for their Aloha Ahakista Regatta & Festival this August Bank Holiday, today, August 5!

And what a line up they have! The weekend will kick off with none other than A-list celebrity Graham Norton who has kindly agreed to be Compere for the Association's annual table quiz. The quiz which sold out as soon as theirCompere Extraordinaire was announced has generated a flurry of excitement in this quiet little village.

The Ahakista Community Association have also managed to secure an unbelievable prize in the form of two tickets to THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW, €300 spending money and an invitation to the Green Room to Meet & Greet after the show for one lucky winner and their guest with tickets on sale throughout the weekend!

Following on from Fridays festivities, Saturday's line up includes a Kiddies Hawaiian Hoola party in the Gardens of the Tin Shed Pub which overlooks the beautiful Dunmanus Bay! Shannon Murphy from THE VOICE OF IRELAND fame will also be paying a visit to Ahakista while on a break from recording in the UK and will perform live for the party! Entrance is only €2 and there will be a fabulous array of entertainment for the children with bouncy castle, face painting and lots of fun and games.

And for those of you who love an excuse to dress up be sure to have your Grass Skirts and Hawaiian Shirts at the ready for the Beach Party in the Beer Garden of Arundels by the Pier from 7-10 p.m. Saturday evening. The evening's entertainment will have DJ Ray turning his hand to some Tiki Tunes, with a BBQ, prizes for best dressed, Hawaiian Tropic Tan Competition Ahakista style, Hawaiian imbo, and a street show with Danger Dave and Safety Mick.

Sunday will be a fantastic day out for all water enthusiasts with coastal gig racing, kayak and swimming races, craft and produce fair bouncy castles, raft races and much much more!

To top off the evenings entertainment Ahakista Community Association are extremely excited to have secured the amazing Eoghan Kelly (Trombone) and The Phil Collins Trio, who will play live Jazz aboard Carbery Sailings, Yacht 'Merlin' Live Jazz on the Ocean, a must see.

Other activities over the weekend include the annual fishing competition, village champions and 45 progressive card drive.

So, if your bank balance cant quite afford Honolulu this August Bank Holiday why not sail on down to the beautiful Sheep's Head Peninsula for your own little Hoola!!
