The pioneering and thrilling live band Afro Celt Sound System, celebrate the release of Capture, a career-spanning double CD, with a live concert at The National Concert Hall on Sunday 21 November 8pm. The twice Grammy-nominated, multi-million album selling band perform this unique concert as part of ESB LIVE 2010
Capture comprises of 25 carefully chosen tracks from their five acclaimed studio albums and features collaborations with artists Sinead O'Connor, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Dorothee Munyaneza and more. It also includes tracks featured on soundtracks including Hotel Rwanda & Gangs of New York.
Born in 1995 as a collaborative effort of four like-minded souls: vocalist and lyricist Iarla O'Lionaird, producer and guitarist Simon Emmerson, producer and composer James McNally and producer and engineer programmer Martin Russell Afro Celt Soundsystem are a band whose fusion of West African rhythms, Irish traditional music and cutting edge dance grooves have set them apart in their field. The band has since evolved around four core members whose musical influence has allowed them to develop a pan global sound which has redefined dance music and bemused music critics.
Afro Celt Sound System, inspired by the link between Irish and African traditions are a band that have broken down musical barriers and celebrated musical and cultural differences to create an organic whole out of many parts. They have built a formidable live reputation playing to sell-out crowds worldwide including legendary festival appearances at WOMAD, Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival and numerous other events.
