AboutFACE Ireland are delighted to announce the three plays that will be featured in their Winter Pub Reading Series 2017. The event will mark the opening of their new 2017 season in Dublin dedicated to developing and presenting exciting new plays, and celebrating their return to full-time production in Ireland after 10 years being primarily based in New York.

The Winter Pub Reading Series will feature rehearsed readings of 3 outstanding new plays, in a warm and welcoming "pub" setting. Each of the plays were developed at the NEWvember Festival. NEWvember is an annual festival of rehearsed readings of new plays, held since 2011 at the Carpenter Shop Theatre in Tivoli, upstate New York. AboutFACE co-created and co-produced the festival with New York-based partners Tangent Theatre, and the festival's successes include breaking box-office records for the Carpenter Shop Theatre, and proudly being part of plays going on to Off-Broadway and regional U.S. Productions. For their first Winter Pub Reading Series in Dublin, AboutFACE has selected three of their favourite plays developed at NEWvember to share with Irish audiences.

The plays for AboutFACE's Winter Pub Reading Series 2017 are:

Thursday January 19th 7.30pm

How The Dog Runs by Dan O'Neil

A family drama of engagements, death and fireworks on a tumultuous 4th of July at a lakeside cabin in Wisconsin.

Thursday February 16th 7.30pm

LOVE/SICK by John Cariani

A bittersweet and magical romantic comedy captures couples finding, losing and risking love, over one Friday evening in suburban America.

Thursday March 23rd 7.30pm

Keep Calm and Carry On by Melisa Annis

A powerful drama about a middle-aged Welsh couple in mourning and a young visitor coming with a mysterious delivery.

All the readings will be performed at 7.30pm, Upstairs at Toner's pub, 139 Baggot Street Lwr; doors open 7pm. Tickets $5.

"We are so excited to kick off our 2017 season back home in Dublin, where we will be focusing on new work, with our Winter Pub Reading Series featuring three really outstanding new plays," says AboutFACE Co-Artistic Director Paul Nugent. "I am sure our audiences will find these three readings moving, hilarious, thought-provoking and gripping, and a great night out at this lovely space at Toner's pub. We can't wait to share these terrific stories with them."

Details on further events in the 2017 AboutFACE Ireland season will be announced soon, including a new festival and a world premiere mainstage production.

About AboutFACE Ireland

AboutFACE Ireland is a theatre company led by Anna Nugent, Paul Nugent and Alan Walsh, where story is at the heart of everything. We believe deeply in the ability of stories to positively affect people's lives, when shared with a simple commitment to truth and excellence. AboutFACE was founded in 2002 with the aim of telling approachable, compassionate and powerful stories, with an initial focus on new American plays. In its first phase (2002-2005), the company produced the acclaimed Irish premieres of seven plays. AboutFACE then took an educational hiatus with company members based in New York, Edinburgh and Dublin. The company entered its second phase of producing with a staged reading of Almost, Maine at the Mill Theatre, Dundrum, in 2010. This was followed by the company creating and co-producing for 5 years (2011-2015) the NEWvember New Plays Festival in the village of Tivoli, upstate New York. AboutFACE marked its 10th anniversary in 2012 by producing its first wholly original piece, the World Premiere of Orson Welles' Christmas Carol, presented at Marlay House, and revived in 2013 at the Powerscourt Theatre. AboutFACE is excited to enter a new third phase of production, with plans for a range of productions, readings and programming in 2017, towards their long-term goal of building a new theatre and creativity centre in Dublin.
