 INTAR THEATER announced today that the award-winning off-Broadway theater company has presented its first Max Ferrá Director Fellowship to Itzel Ayala. The fellowship is in memory of INTAR’S founding Artistic Director and is intended to supply a major career boost and visibility for the recipient.

Roundabout Theatre Company is now accepting applications for  two of the institution's signature Artists-in-Residence programs: the Roundabout Directing Fellowship and the Leon Levy Foundation Roundabout Directors Group.

The American Playwriting Foundation  and Building for the Arts have announced that submissions for the Relentless Musical Award are now open and will close on March 1, 2022. The creators of the winning submission will receive $65,000, the largest cash prize in American theater presented to an unproduced work. There is no fee to apply.

In New York, some governmental support may be renewed for the performing arts sector in the form of the New York City Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit. Meanwhile last week, members of the creative economy were in front of the House Small Business Committee to lobby for more support from a national level.

The Latino Filmmakers Network will host events during Sundance’s 2022 Film Festival Village, which is now being livestreamed here. The network has been livestreaming events, workshops, and pitching opportunities from January 21st and will continue to do so until the 26th. This year marks the eighth annual Latino Filmmakers Network event.

Actors’ Equity Association has released a statement from union President Kate Shindle on the need for Congress to pass an appropriations bill with funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities and Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The current continuing resolution that funds the government expires Feb. 18.
