The Write Out Loud Project has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $10,000. In total, the NEA will award 1,135 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $37 million as part of its second round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

Write Out Loud’s annual programs “exemplify the creativity and care with which communities are telling their stories, creating connection, and responding to challenges and opportunities in their communities—all through the arts,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “So many aspects of our communities such as cultural vitality, health and wellbeing, infrastructure, and the economy are advanced and improved through investments in art and design, and the National Endowment for the Arts is committed to ensuring people across the country benefit.”

“We are so grateful to be a recipient of a 2024 National Endowment for the Arts Grant. As a small and nimble organization — now in our 6th year — this grant is such a meaningful vote of confidence in our mission.  Thank you to the NEA for this honor,” said Write Out Loud President Hannah Kloepfer on behalf of the board, which includes Taylor Louderman (Tony Nominee- Mean Girls, Bring It On, Kinky Boots), Sarah Glugatch, Josh Collopy, Ben Rauhala (Disney Princess - The Concert) and Macy Schmidt (The Sinfonietta).

“We take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to amplifying the work of new musical theater writers. With the NEA support, we are thrilled to continue providing opportunities, fostering creativity within our growing community, and nurturing theatrical songwriters to bring their voices to the forefront,” added Louderman.

The grant will support key elements of the 2024 programming cycle which include the production of the 2024 Studio EP, which will feature the works of the 2024 Write Out Loud Contest winners; and the 2024 concert, a live performance featuring the works of the contest winners and finalists, which is scheduled for September 9, 2024 at 54 Below in New York City.
