With a well-established history of presenting a wide variety of speakers from theater, academics, government, hospitality, sciences, technology and more, TEDxBroadway organizers will once again expand their scope even further this year to find new voices for the upcoming 8th annual event on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at New World Stages.
"True to the TED spirit, we're looking for speakers who have 'ideas worth sharing,'" says Damian Bazadona, TEDxBroadway Co-Organizer and founder of Situation Interactive. "Last year, three out of the 15 speakers on our stage were people who shared their ideas with us through our online submission process. It was incredible to discover these original ideas and perspectives - ones we'd probably not come up with on our own."
As far as advice on submitting a talk idea for the event, Jim McCarthy, TEDxBroadway Co-Founder and CEO of Goldstar says, "Spend 30 minutes thinking about a single thing, a single sentence that you'd like the Broadway community to truly hear and understand. That one kernel of an idea is the key and what sparks a great talk. "
TEDxBroadway speaker submissions are now being accepted at https://www.tedxbroadway.com/application. While dedicated to asking "What's the BEST Broadway Can Be?," organizers are seeking speakers who can contribute to the overall mission of the day, but topics are not strictly limited to theater. The deadline for submissions is March 4, 2019. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of past TEDxBroadway speakers and the organizing team.
"As a lifelong audience member, observer and fan, it was incredibly powerful and transformative for me to step into the light on the stage, to speak my voice, to share my experience and most importantly to claim my space in our community," said TEDxBroadway speaker Julie Stroud, a featured speaker at TEDxBroadway 2018 from the New Voices program. "I was supported in exploring and distilling my ideas into the most powerful public presentation I've ever made."
Interested attendees can purchase tickets at www.TEDxBroadway.com. Registration for the TEDxBroadway conference will begin at 1:15 p.m. on February 27, 2018. Tickets are $100.
