Samuel French has announced the publication and availability of performance rights for Steve Martin's new play, Meteor Shower.

Meteor Shower joins Tony Award-nominated playwright and comedy-world icon Steve Martin's two earlier comedies, Picasso at the Lapin Agile and The Underpants, as part of Samuel French's extensive catalog of acclaimed plays and musicals. As an author, playwright, pianist and banjo player, Martin has earned Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and American Comedy awards as part of his long list of accomplishments. Meteor Shower is his most recent contribution to Broadway, displaying his trademark absurdist humor. The play premiered regionally in 2016 at The Old Globe in San Diego, California and was followed by The Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut before opening on Broadway in November 2017.

"Now that this wonderful Steve Martin comedy is published and available for licensing, regional theaters around the country can look forward to addingMeteor Shower to an upcoming season to the delight of their audiences," states Bruce Lazarus, Executive Director of Samuel French, Inc. "It features four of the funniest roles in the current contemporary American canon of plays."

Jesse Green, in his review for The New York Times, poses that "Mr. Martin is peerless at crafting tiny wit bombs, and always has been." The play follows Corky and Norm, who are excited to host Gerald and Laura at their home in the valley outside Los Angeles to watch a once-in-a-lifetime meteor shower. Martin bends the fluid nature of time and reality to create a surprising and unforgettably funny new play. Amy Schumer, in her Broadway debut, received a Tony nomination for her role as Corky.
