Stephen Nachamie (She Loves Me) will direct an industry reading of the new musical Pride & Prejudice - the Musical, with book, music and lyrics by Lawrence Rush, on February 18th and 19th featuring DeLaney Westfall (Kinky Boots, Side Show, Sweeney Todd) as Elizabeth Bennet.
The show is a faithful adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel about true love in a time of arranged marriages, and about how first impressions and preconceived notions can blind us to seeing what we've been looking for all along. A FWD Theatre Project winner and Richard Rogers Award finalist, it has previously been presented in fully staged productions by West Side Theatre Company in Utah and WAOS in the U.K., and was recently seen in concert at 54Below in NYC.
The cast also includes Michael Hunsaker (The Time Machine) as Mr. Darcy, Brian Ray Norris (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Mr. Collins, Billy Tighe (Sweeney Todd, Pippin) as Mr. Bingley, Georga Osborne (Souvenir, Meet Me in St. Louis) as Mrs. Bennet and Gordon Stanley (Cabaret, Ragtime) as Mr. Bennet. Rounding out the cast will be Lucy Anders as Lydia Bennet, Mike Cefalo as Mr. Wickham, Autumn Hurlbert as Caroline Bingley, Johna Miller as Jane Bennet, Jennafer Newberry as Kitty Bennet, Joan Porter as Lady Catherine, Sasha Weiss as Charlotte and MacKenzie Wright as Mary Bennet; Ensemble members are Joel Briel, Napat Mingkwanyuen, Michelle Pauker, and Doug Shapiro. The reading will have music direction by Chip Prince and will be stage managed by Don Myers. DTE Management Services is general manager, and Seaglass Theatrical is the consulting producer.
