Based on real people and inspired by actual events, CHONBURI INTERNATIONAL HOTEL & BUTTERFLY CLUBfollows the lives and loves of the residents at the Chon Inter Hotel in Thailand--a world-renowned destination for transgender women recovering from gender confirmation surgery. The play explores the temporary community and unconventional sisterhood found in the hotel lobby.

Cast includes: Ivory Aquino ("When We Rise"), Liz Lark Brown, Maybe Burke (Love Letters to Nobody or Insignificant Others), Kate Bornstein (I Am Cait, Kate Bornstein is A Queer and Pleasant Danger), Carmen Carrera ("RuPaul's Drag Race"), Samy El-Noury ("Transparent"), Annie Golden ("Orange is the New Black," Broadway: Assassins, Hair), Emmet Grosland (Ricki and the Flash, Emotional Creature, "Bull"), Jari Jones, Bianca Leigh (Hurricane Bianca, Transamerica), Dana Levinson (Ballast), Eve Lindley (All We Had), Chevy Martinez, Pooya Mohseni (Falling Water, "Madam Secretary"), Thanh Ta, and Jenna Ushkowitz ("Glee," Broadway's Waitress). Shakina Nayfack (writer/director) is a performer, director, writer, producer, and social activist. She plays Lola on the Hulu comedy series Difficult People and is the founding Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory (www.mtf.nyc) where she has supported the development of over 120 new musicals, including an autobiographical rock musical about her gender confirmation, Manifest Pussy. Shakina is a proud recipient of a Lilly Award recognizing the remarkable contributions to the American Theatre made by women, the Theatre Resources Unlimited Humanitarian Award, The Drama League Directors Project Musical Directing Fellowship, and Beatrice Terry Residency for women playwright/directors.
CHONBURI INTERNATIONAL HOTEL AND BUTTERFLY CLUB was developed with support from The Drama League's Beatrice Terry Residency (Nayfack is the first transgender woman to be awarded this residency) and presented with support from Playwrights Horizons, Daryl Roth, Megan Savage, Carol LoCascio-Creel.
