Samuel by Alexis Roblan will receive an industry reading directed by Madeline O'Hara on Sunday, May 27, at 3pm at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios (311 W 43rd St). This is the second presentation of Front Porch Readings, a bi-monthly series whose mission is to celebrate writers of diverse stories and worldviews while directly connecting playwrights and directors to publishers and producers.
Cast members will be announced shortly. Samuel is a wickedly clever new play about the shifting nature of sisterhood, family, and reality. Absurdity and traditionalism share equal footing with weddings and funerals as four sisters navigate language, memory, and alternate timelines. Admission is strictly limited; request 1 or 2 complimentary seats by emailing frontporchreadings@gmail.com.
Please include any union or professional affiliations. Front Porch Readings has an open submission policy for plays that are unpublished and have not yet received a full production. Please submit with a cover letter and synopsis to frontporchreadings@gmail.com for consideration by FPR readers and directors. FPR is co-produced by Ryan McCurdy and Emily Mwakitawa with Artistic Director Zhailon Levingston.
