New Publishing Company Aims To Provide Representation To Playwrights Of Marginalized Genders

By/For Publishing, LLC publishes and licenses plays written BY people of marginalized genders, FOR them. They aim to create more inclusive representation in the theatre industry.

The owner of the company, Taylor McPhail, started By/For Publishing with a very specific goal in mind- to bring plays written by people of marginalized genders to educational and community theaters across the United States and beyond.

By/For Publishing licenses the rights to produce their shows on a sliding scale. This creates equitable accessibility; under this model, high school theaters that may have less funding than professional theaters have equal access to produce their plays. This helps to reach their goal of providing access to plays written by people of marginalized genders to the majority of the population.
