NY Philharmonic Appoints Adam Crane & Susan Madden Vice Presidents

The New York Philharmonic has named Adam Crane Vice President, External Affairs, and Susan Madden Vice President, Development, beginning in January 2018.

Adam Crane has led External Affairs at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra since 2008, most recently as senior vice president of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, overseeing public relations, publications, education, community partnerships, and the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Previously he was director of public relations at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and held positions at Universal Music Group in New York and Warner Music Group in Los Angeles. As the New York Philharmonic's Vice President, External Affairs - a newly created position - Mr. Crane will oversee community collaborations, communications, and education activities for the Orchestra.

Over the past two decades Susan Madden has led development teams at several major New York cultural and civic organizations, most recently as senior vice president of Development at The Paley Center for Media. At the Museum of the City of New York, where she led Development and External Affairs for close to a decade, Ms. Madden helped to complete a $100 million capital campaign with the president and board, and raised funds for digital initiatives, permanent and special exhibitions, and education activities. At Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project Ms. Madden secured major gifts to restore parks and community gardens around the city in underserved neighborhoods, and at the Guggenheim Museum she directed individual giving and membership, international travel programs, special events, patron programs, and more.
