Inspired by the true story "Fate of Dreams" by Travis Dow and Will Foreman, The Music of Life is a play about a musical set to change the world. The Music of Life is about the role of artists in the fight for social justice, and the power of love to withstand unspeakable grief and loss. Above all, it's about keeping dreams alive and sustaining the soul through art and love.
Maricella and John have had a complicated on-again, off-again relationship for decades. Their partnership reaches new ground when Maricella pairs John, a psychiatrist-turned-writer/philosopher, with her talented singer-songwriter son Cal to collaborate on a new musical. They work together through an unexpected tragedy to reach a broader audience for John's profound (yet somewhat dense) writings and create an ambitious musical piece for the world.
The workshop is directed by Samantha Squeri with music supervisor Sasha Bartol, the cast features Celia Berk, Ido Gal, Robert Galinsky, Albert Olszewski, Aran Montare Savory, and Savannah Wang.
