THE PETER PLAYS, written and directed by John Robert Tillotson, announced today industry readings will be presented at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 8, 2019, and 7:30 pm on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Clinton Cameo Studios (307 West 43rd Street), starring Steven Hauck (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), LeeAnne Hutchison (God Shows Up) and Grant Neale (upcoming: MET Opera Porgy and Bess). Production stage management is by C.A. Clark and Travis Acreman.

The Peter Plays is part of cycle of short works. In Nimble Souls, Peter (Grant Neale), an actor recovering from an injury, and his longtime friend, Kris (LeeAnne Hutchison), an artistic director, meet at Bethesda Fountain to survey some uncomfortable truths about the current state of their lives in the theater. In the next piece, Late-Walking through the Realm, Charlie (Steven Hauck), a successful lawyer and ex-actor, meets Peter near dawn, at an MTA bus kiosk in the East Village, where they review their long relationship. In the final piece, Form & Moving, Kris is leaving her Kip's Bay apartment, as she compromises her artistic dreams, in exchange for financial security.

"The Peter Plays were stand-alone one-acts," said Tillotson, "but when they began to share characters a larger cycle was created. Currently there are 12 one-act and one full-length interconnected plays, all which take place over the year 2011, under the banner title THEATRIKALS." They have been developed with the assistance of The PlayGround Experiment and Write Now, a branch of 29th Street Playwrights Collective.

John Robert Tillotson (Playwright/ Director) works includes Independence Day: A New Play to Pay Old Debt (2018 Michael Warren Powell Memorial Award), Project: Bairbre, (Nomad Theatrical), The Face of Heaven (Attic Theatre), On the Harmfulness of Electronic Devices in the Theatre: A Tutorial (Louisville Improvisers), and his one man autobiographical play, Residual Effects (Hudson Guild Theatre). As a director, he recently staged productions of Experimenting with Katz (New Ambassadors @ TheaterLab) and Much Ado about Nothing (Savage Rose/Louisville, KY). He has acted on and off Broadway, in Europe, and in regional theater as well as film and television.

THE PETER PLAYS will be read Thursday, August 8 at 12 noon and Friday, August 9th at 7:30pm at the Clinton Cameo Studios, (307 West 43rd Street). Seating is limited, free and available 30 minutes before performance.
