The Directors Company (Michael Parva, Artistic Director; Leah Michalos, Producing Director) and RK Greene/The StoryLine Project LLC, have announced the industry reading of Beau, a new play inside a concert, being presented August 9th at Clinton Cameo Studios.
Directed by Adam Quinn (Dear Evan Hansen), the cast will feature Jeb Brown (Beautiful) as Beau, Matt Rodin as Ace, with Lulu Picart, Max Sangerman (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Ashley Perez Flanagan (Natasha Pierre), Ari Axelrod, Jeremy Sevelovitz (Chasing The Song), Andrea Goss (Indecent).
In Beau, Eight actor-musicians tell the story of Ace Baker, who spends the first decade of his life fatherless. At 12 years old, a phone call reveals that his "deceased" Grandpa Beau has been alive all his life, and his Mama knew. Family secrets unravel as Ace rushes to make up for lost time with a man who changes his life, and puts a guitar in his hand.
Concept, book and lyrics are by Douglas Lyons (Beautiful), with an original pop-country score by Ethan D. Pakchar (Five Points) and Lyons. Cynthia Meng music directs.
Beau was written in residence at The Directors Company.
