The show will run at the Ciputra Artpreneur on March 18th and 19th.
On March 18th and 19th, EKI Dance Company and Ciputra Artpreneur will bring KEN DEDES to the stage at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater, Jakarta. The show is developed by longtime theatre practitioners, including Rusdy Rukmarata as director and choreographer, Titien Wattimena as scriptwriter, Oni Krisnerwinto as music director, and Iskandar Loedin as artistic director.
"Our main challenge in developing the musical is in presenting the timeless historical story in a relevant way to the contemporary audience," said Rusdy Rukmarata, who's also the Artistic Director of EKI Dance Company.
Meanwhile, scriptwriter Titien Wattimena promises that the story will 'reveal a rarely-told version of the legend'. "It'll be fun! There's power struggle, murder, and, of course, mystery. But there's comedy there as well," said Titien, whose script for ARUNA DAN LIDAHNYA won a Piala Citra in 2018.
The musical tells the story of Ken Dedes, a woman with a huge influence on the nation's history. KEN DEDES will feature a number of Indonesia's popular musical actors, including Ara Ajisiwi (Ken Dedes), Taufan Purbo (Ken Arok), Nala Amrytha (Ken Umang), Uli Herdi (Tunggul Ametung), Fatih Unru (Anusapati), Geraldo Tanor (Tohjaya) and Nino Prabowo (Kebo Ijo).
Previously, a short version of KEN DEDES was performed in Festival Musikal Indonesia to a great reception from the audience. Tickets to the show will be available through Loket.com starting on January 13th starting from Rp450.000,-.
