Teater KataK will hold their 54th theatrical performance, ROBIN OF SHERWOOD, on May 11th-13th 2018 at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, Jakarta. The play, adapted from the English folk tale of Robin Hood, will be performed in Bahasa Indonesia.
ROBIN OF SHERWOOD tells the tale of a land ruled by King John, who recently took the throne from his own brother. The unjust tyrant, through excessive taxation and totalitarian ruling, brings suffering to all of his subjects except for those closest to him. Moved by the pleas of the people, a group of men and women assume the title of Robin - a heroic force who fights the corrupt government and seeks to restore order to the kingdom.
The script is penned by Venantius Vladimir Ivan Pratama, who will also direct the show. The plot of ROBIN OF SHERWOOD aspires to shed light upon Indonesia's political climate that is still rife with misuse and abuse of power. Loxely, the heroine, inspires the suffering populace to rise against the mistreatment by those in power. Teater KataK hopes their performance will similarly inspire people to fight for their rights and speak up against corruption.
