Theatre at the Center's Theatre for Young Audiences, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions, announces their 2010-2011 season. Join in the fun with the classic fairy tale adventure Jack and the Beanstalk, October 7th through the 9th; the traditional holiday favorite, introducing kids to the classic music of Tchaikovsky, The Story of the Nutcracker plays November 29th through December 13th; the compelling dramatization of the life and times of one of the most influential and charismatic leaders of our time, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I Have A Dream, runs January 18th through 21st; the musical adaptation of the famous novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables, will be staged March 29th through April 2nd.

Join Jack and his dancing Spanish cow Carmelita as they try to save their village from a crazy Giant in the musical version of the fairy tale classic Jack and the Beanstalk October 7th through October 9th. Jack's crazy adventure starts with five magic beans. Audiences will follow him up the magical beanstalk- that really grows on stage- and with him, meet the goose that lays golden eggs, a beautiful singing harp, a silly giant, and his wacky wife. This musical version of the beloved story features five original songs, including two sing-along songs with Jack and Carmelita. Don't worry, there's nothing scary in this musical adaptation. Audiences can expect lots of fun for everyone and a lot of audience participation. Also, ask about the Jack and the Beanstalk coloring contest. First prize is a 4 person pass to Fair Oaks Farms. A special lunch package will also be available on October 7th and 8th for an additional $4 per person. The lunch will include an all-beef hot dog, potato chips, fruit roll up, cookies and an orange drink.

Join the fun in the traditional holiday tale about a young girl, Marie, and her very favorite Christmas present, The Story of the Nutcracker, running November 29th through December 13th. In this classic play, introducing kids to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky, Marie falls asleep, and when she awakes, she finds the Nutcracker has come to life, along with a toy Soldier and a doll named Clara. Unfortunately, other toys have come to life as well, including the Mouse King. Marie, the Nutcracker, and the other toys embark on a journey to reach the Sugar Plum Fairy. They venture through the beautiful Land of Snow, and finally arrive in the delicious Land of Sweets. This dream-like production is perfect for all ages and celebrates friendship and the beauty of the holiday spirit. A special lunch package will also be available on November 29, 30, December 6, 7, 10 and 13 for an additional $4 per person. The lunch will include an all-beef hot dog, potato chips, fruit roll up, cookies and an orange drink.

I Have A Dream, a compelling dramatization of the life and times of one of the most influential and charismatic leaders of the "American Century", Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., runs January 18th through 21st. Inspired by the arrest of Rosa Parks, Dr. King becomes the prime mover behind the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott, putting this philosophy of non-violent protest to work. He gains national recognition and becomes the dominant force in the Civil Rights Movement during its decade of greatest achievement. Audiences will be inspired by this reenactment of his great "I Have a Dream" speech, and his dream of "lifting our nation from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood." A special Public Performance is offered on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. and a surprise guest speaker will immediately follow the performance! Groups are invited to enter the I Have A Dream essay contest for a chance to win a $100 early investor account sponsored by Citizen's Financial Bank, Munster, IN.

The classic tale of a young orphan girl whose dauntless spirit transforms her adoptive family is brought to life in Anne of Green Gables, presented March 29th through April 2nd. Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's internationally beloved novel, this original musical delights young audiences with its celebration of the power of imagination and the importance of love and trust. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, farmers who live on Prince Edward Island in Canada, want to adopt a boy to help with the chores. Upon arrival to pick up their child, they are not expecting to see Anne Shirley, an orphan with little more than a tattered carpet bag and a big imagination. This popular and heart-warming musical tells the story of vivacious Anne and her journey to find the family she's always wanted. Each attending school group will receive a copy of the book, Anne of Green Gables, sponsored by the Kiwanas Clubs of Hammond, Highland and Munster, Indiana.
