Just as It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, and A Christmas Story are staples of the holiday season, it just isn't Christmas without the Herdmans! Buck Creek Players (BCP), the award-winning all-volunteer community theater on the southeast-side of Indianapolis, will present the Yuletide blockbuster, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, weekends December 3-19, 2010.

This rollicking production, based on the book by Barbara Robinson, is the touching story of the unruly, uproarious Herdman family as they wreak havoc during rehearsals for a local church's holiday pageant. Despite their grimy faces and tattered clothes, the Herdmans - "the worst kids in the whole history of the world"- and an entire church congregation discover the true meaning of Christmas. The play opens as plans for the church's pageant run amuck when the director breaks her leg. Grace Bradley, who didn't expect to have anything to do with the Christmas pageant, steps in as director. The Herdmans show up at the auditions and demand all the leading roles. Chaos erupts, but Mrs. Bradley perseveres, and the church youth produce what everyone considers "the best Christmas pageant ever."

Making her directorial return to the Buck Creek Playhouse, Dotti Peek has been involved with BCP since its inception over 37 years ago as producer, director, set designer, technical director, publicist, and board president. Joining Peek on the production team are Judith Duncan (Producer), Joe Cox and Jack Peek II (Technical Directors), Lynn Sanders (Costumes), Jeff Rowand (Lighting Designer), Lee McCarty, Jr. (Sound Designer), Patrick Banks (Stage Manager), and Wendy & Hannah Haydock (Properties).
