The Buck Creek Players will wrap up their 35th Anniversary "Award-Winning Season" with their third biannual Play-A-Part Fundraiser of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, sponsored in part by The Friends of Jack Peek. Quickly becoming a BCP audience favorite, the Play-A-Part Fundraisers separate themselves from The Playhouse's traditional community Theater Productions in that all roles are "won" through silent auction with no required auditions! Veteran musical theater performers join first-timers to create a comedic twist (a la The Carol Burnett Show) on the true story that has captured the hearts of children and adults alike since its beginnings as a Broadway hit. Rodgers and Hammerstein's final musical collaboration features favorites such as "Climb Every Mountain," "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and, of course, "The Sound of Music." For its very limited four-performance run, curtain times will be at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, August 7th and 8th, with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday, August 8th and 9th. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue. General admission is $25 for everyone and can be reserved by calling (317) 862-2270. Be sure to visit our website at www.buckcreekplayers.com to download and print your "BCP Stimulus Bill" to present at our box office and receive $5.00 off the price of admission for every ticket purchased.

When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. The motion picture version remains the most popular movie musical of all time. Leading the cast as the exuberant Maria Rainer is Denise A. Fort, returning for her third time to participate in a BCP Play-A-Part Fundraiser. She took on the role of Jan in our 2005 Play-A-Part Fundraiser of Grease and Maria in our 2007 Play-A-Part Fundraiser of West Side Story. Joe Lackner makes his theatrical comeback after many years away from the stage as Captain Georg Von Trapp. A.T. Ranck returns to lend comedic talent as the Captian's wealthy and attractive fiancé, Baroness Elsa Schrader, as Lisa Emberton makes her BCP debut as the penniless impresario Max Detweiler. Bobbi Griffis makes her return to the BCP stage as Mother Abbess after being seen as Sister Mary Glad Hand in our 2007 Play-A-Part Fundraiser of West Side Story. Following her lead are Loyette Leslie as Sister Margaretta, Evelyn Brown as Sister Berte, Elizabeth Popplewell as Sister Sophia, Dotti Peek as Sister Catherine, Phyllis Ann Arthur as Sister Agatha, Judith Duncan as Sister Bernice and HaiQuynh Jamison as Sister Bertrille. Portraying the seven lively Von Trapp children are Donna Wing (Liesl), Randy Faunce (Freidrich), Shannon Wise (Louisa), Ken Kern (Kurt), Craig Underwood (Brigitta), Sonja Schoene (Marta) and Christopher Brown (Gretl). Rounding out the cast are Chaz Bennett as Herr Zeller, devotee of the Nazi regime; and Clance LaTurner and Jason Sisk take on the roles of Captain Von Trapp's dedicated servants, Frau Schmidt (the housekeeper) and Franz (the butler).

D. Scott Robinson, originator of the Play-A-Part Fundraiser in 2005, returns to direct and choreograph the third installment after directing the past two fundraisers of Grease (2005) and West Side Story (2007), as well as many other productions in the Indianapolis area such as Grey Gardens, The Spitfire Grill, The Rocky Horror Show, Violet and Side Show. Assisting Robinson on the production team are Lynne B. Robinson (Producer), Trevor Fanning (Vocal Director), Aaron B. Bailey (Set Designer/ Technical Director), Donna Jacobi and Linda Rowand (Costumers), Dawn Frick (Lighting Designer), and Mary Byrd (Stage Manager).
