South Bend Civic Theatre presents The 39 Steps through March 18. Written by Patrick Barlow from the classic spy novel by John Buchan and the celebrated film by Alfred Hitchcock, this comedy ran for two years after originating in London.

About the show: "Full of inventive staging, madcap comedy, and thrilling echoes of classic chase yarns, this is a show that will leave you breathless – from laughter! In a wild mash-up of suspense and pastiche, Richard Hannay finds himself on the run when he is implicated in a murder, launching a desperate search to clear his name and solve the mystery of the nefarious group the 39 Steps. Just four actors play over 100 characters in this frenetic slice of theatrical magic."

Sure-handed director Richard Baxter (SBCT’s A Flea in Her Ear and Moon Over Buffalo) leads four capably crazed thespians: Matthew Bell, Abbey Frick, Mark Moriarty, and Aaron Nichols.

Performances are in the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium at South Bend Civic Theatre, 403 N. Main Street, South Bend. Parking is free on site.

Tickets are $15 Wednesday (7:30 PM), and $18 Friday, Saturday (8:00 PM), and Sunday (3:00 PM). Call the box office at 574-234-1112 12-6 weekdays, or go online at www.sbct.org. Let the box
office know if you require wheelchair seating or special assistance. Hearing assistance systems also available free of charge.
