Indianapolis' Footlite Musicals will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA! thru March 28.
OKLAHOMA! is based on the play GREEN GROW THE LILACS by Lynn Riggs and features music by Richard Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It's The Farmer vs. the cowboy and a classic story of true love in the Oklahoma territory of the early 1900's. Curly has trouble admitting his feelings to Laurey, as does she. Will Parker finds his girlfriend, Ado Annie, just can't seem to say "No" to other men. Despite the interference of a brooding farm hand and a roaming peddler, all ends happily as both couples tie the knot and make a new life together in a brand-new state, Oklahoma!Eric Karwisch will direct Footlite's fourth production of OKLAHOMA!The cast will feature Dane Rogers as Curly McLain, Noelle Steele as Laurey Williams, Christy Walker as Aunt Eller, Jay Hemphill as Will Parker, Chris Meek as Jud Fry, John Hayes as Ali Hakim, Joe Stafford as Andrew Carnes, Mike Jones as Ike Skidmore, Tom Bartley as Cord Elam, and Katy Stafford as Gertie Cummings.The Ladies' Ensemble will feature Savanna Jilg, Allie Watson, Amy Douglas, Jenalee Fortner, Katie Harry, and Ragen Sanner. The Men's Ensemble will feature Matthew Altman, Russell Eldridge, Ervin Gainer, James Hildreth, DeAndre Jackson, and Bryan Padgett.
The creative team features choreographers Teresa Diehl, Jay Emrich, Elena Marr, and Kathy Rucker, set designer Ed Trout, lighting designer Eric Karwisch, and costume coordinator Bobbi Bates.After OKLAHOMA! Footlite Musicals will present OLIVER! based on the Charles Dickens novel "Oliver Twist" with music, lyrics, and book by Lionel Bart. OLIVER! will play on May 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23. Oliver is a young orphan in a large workhouse who draws a great deal of attention to himself when he asks for more at the dinner table. No one likes a greedy orphan, so Oliver finds himself sold to an undertaker. He runs away, and is taken in by a group of pickpockets who try to teach the innocent boy to be a thief.
