Becky's New Car, by Steven Dietz, opened Friday, September 16th on the Mud Creek Barn stage. In this hilarious comedy, Dietz takes you on a ride through the mid-life crisis of an everyday woman as she tries to find a way out of her boring housework, boring job, boring everything! The play is a touching romantic comedy about middled-aged Becky Foster (Forba Shepherd), her roofer husband Joe (Ken Delp) and their matriculating son Chris (Dustin Van Treese). Becky looks for change on the horizon when you also meet the others in her road of life, Steve (Paul Sommer), Walter Flood (Collin Moore), Kensington (Heather Kroetz) and Ginger (Judy McGroarty)-- each of whom evoke the laughter of theater patrons.

This delightful play is another Dietz masterpiece. Dietz, once again named one of the Top Ten Most Produced Playwrights in America (excluding Shakespeare), tied with Tennessee Williams and Edward Albee for number of productions. Another of his works, Dracula, is the season opener at IRT. In addition to writing, Dietz is a professor at the University of Texas, Austin, where he teaches playwriting and directing.

The play will be presented Friday and Saturday nights, September 16th through October 1st, at 8:00 P.M., with a matinee on Sunday, September 25th at 2:30 P.M. Tickets are $12 for all evening performances and $10 for the matinee. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 317-290-5343 or visiting www.mudcreekplayers.org. The theater is located at 9740 East 86th Street on the west side of Geist Reservoir, at the corner of Mud Creek Road and 86th Street. Come out to the Barn you're sure to enjoy the ride! Becky's New Car is presented by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service, Inc., New York.
