This magnificent performance features some of India's most illustrious musicians: Shashank Subramanyam, bamboo flute; Purbayan Chatterjee, sitar; Parupalli Phalgun, mridangam; and Anubrata Chatterjee, tabla. A Grammy-nominated proponent of the flute, Shashank Subramanyam has a successful career in Indian classical music that spans over 30 years. Accompanied by Purbayan Chatterjee, acknowledged as one of the finest sitar players in Indian classical music, these two musicians are considered to be among the best in India. Joining them are Parupalli Phalgun, an extremely talented mridangam player, and Anubrata Chatterjee, who was nurtured from a tender age to be a talented tabla player.
Music lovers will not want to miss this incredibly affordable performance. IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts and Shruti, the Indian Cultural Society of Fort Wayne, have made it possible for tickets to be priced at merely $10 each. Students with a school ID are admitted free of charge. Vistaar - A Classical Indian Music Exploration is provided with support from the Shruti Indian Cultural Society and the IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA).
The IPFW CVPA and Shruti are concluding their sixth season offering Indian cultural experiences for audiences in northeast Indiana and are pleased to present yet another exciting collaboration to introduce patrons to some of the most acclaimed international Indian performers in music, dance and theatre.
