Great American Songbook Foundation Celebrates Indiana's Bicentennial with Exhibit at the Palladium

The Great American Songbook Foundation presents a new gallery exhibit, The Great Indiana Songbook: Two Centuries of Hoosier Music, opening on February 15. The yearlong exhibit celebrates Indiana's bicentennial by highlighting the rich musical heritage of the Hoosier state.

"Hoosiers have mastered every style of American music, from jazz to gospel and hard rock to opera," said Michael Feinstein, five-time Grammy nominee and founder of the Great American Songbook Foundation. "As composers, performers, and audiences, Indiana has made its mark on the history of music in America and the world. We are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful musical legacy with our new exhibit."

The Great Indiana Songbook: Two Centuries of Hoosier Music, celebrates the songs, people and places that have helped Indiana carve out a distinct niche in America's musical landscape. The yearlong exhibit surveys the famous and the forgotten in its exploration of Indiana's rich musical legacy that spans all genres from classical to pop to heavy metal. Highlighted artists include Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, John Mellencamp, the Ink Spots, the Jackson Five, Joshua Bell, the Wright Brothers Band, Axl Rose, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Houndmouth, Steve Wariner, Carrie Newcomer, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Straight No Chaser, and many more!

This FREE exhibit is open to the public in the Songbook Gallery on the gallery level (fourth floor) of the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, IN. Gallery hours are 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. / Monday - Friday. The gallery is also open to concert-goers attending the Songbook series and Jazz series at the Palladium.
