EVITA Opens 2009-2010 Season At Indianoplis Civic Theatre, Runs 9/11-27

Indianoplis Civic Theatre presents EVITA as the first show in their 2009-2010 season with performances running from September 11 through September 27 at the Indianapolis Civic Theatre, 3200 Cold Spring Road, on the campus of Marian College, Indianapolis, IN, 46222

Winner of 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice masterpiece tells the story of the legendary Eva Perón and her amazing rise from poverty to becoming the most powerful woman her country and, indeed, Latin America had ever seen. "Saint to the working-class, reviled by the aristocracy and mistrusted by the military" Argentina's controversial First Lady, who died at the age of 33, was destined to leave a fascinating political legacy unique in the 20th century. Told through a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, the show creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.

Indianapolis Civic Theatre is the largest of more than 70 Indiana community theatres and one of the ten largest of over 7,000 active community theatres in the United States. Civic also is considered to be the nation's longest continuously operating community theatre. Founded in 1915, Indianapolis Civic Theatre has been a vital part of the city's cultural landscape for nearly a century, providing quality live theatrical entertainment for a broad-based audience.

Indianapolis Civic Theatre is located in a newly renovated facility on the campus of Marian University at 3200 Cold Spring Road, just minutes from downtown on the city's northwest side and is easily accessible from 38th and 39th streets. Ample free parking is available in close proximity to the Theatre's main entrance. The building is also handicap accessible.
