Buck Creek Players Announce 2017 Blaine Jarrett Scholarship Applications Opening

The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund, a fund managed by Buck Creek Players, is pleased to announce the availability of the Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship. Any graduating high school senior or college freshman who is currently enrolled or accepted into a performing arts related major/minor at a college or university is eligible to apply. Majors/minors which will be considered include: dance, theater performance, technical theater, instrumental music, vocal music, or related field. Recipients will be based on the applicant's participation, accomplishments, and involvement in the performing arts in the Central Indiana region. Recipients will receive a minimum scholarship of $1,000. Applications are available to download on the scholarship's website and must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2017 to be considered for a scholarship this year.

The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund was started by Blaine's family and friends. The first scholarship awards were made in 2008 when funding reached a sufficient level to allow meaningful annual scholarships to be awarded on an on-going basis. The fund has since been growing steadily thanks to the contributions of a variety of donors and various fundraising activities. Blaine Jarrett ... a man whose involvement and dedication to theatrical arts was enjoyed and admired by everyone who had seen him perform. Blaine was able to involve, engage, and nourish the community with each performance. The community reflected upon his inspiration and established the Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund to encourage young people in the path of their development and growth in the theatrical arts.
